A beautiful piece, with a red "iron pebble" ("Eisenkiesel") - red hematite inclusions in the top-region of the pale purple coloured amethyst crystals, which covers up rainbow fluorite matrix. From the famous Wölsendorf fluorite deposite in Bavaria, Germany.
Dimensions: 180x130x90mm. Weight: 2,560 kg.
Eisenkiesel is mostly used as a synonym for quartz evenly colored by red inclusions of hematite.
In this case are the inclusions only found in top of the amethyst crystals.
One of the better known eisenkiesel locations in Germany is the fluorite mine area around Wölsendorf in the Oberpfalz at the northern end of the Bayerische Wald (Bavarian forest).
Typical specimen consist of vein fillings of fluorite in granite that have been overgrown by totaly or partly red/brown coloured shiny quartz crystals.
